About The Loire Valley
THE LOIRE VALLEY is in fact located to the northwest of the geographic center of France. The majestic Loire River crosses the region from east to west, shaping the landscapes of the Val de Loire (Loire Valley).
Centre is largely forested, and consists of plains and plateaus. To appreciate the beauty of this natural setting, you can’t go wrong with a walk, a bike ride, or even a tour by boat. Head out for a hike in one of the Loire Valley’s nature parks, or indulge in a romantic getaway at a vineyard.
Hop on board a barge for an unforgettable river trip, or follow the turns of the river on your bike. Wherever you go, you’ll find magnificent landscapes, at times refined, at times wild.
In addition to the scope and beauty of its natural resources, Centre is renowned for its rich heritage and the wonderful variety of activities it has on offer. The region is home to famous chateaus (palaces/castles) such as Chambord, Chenonceau, Chinon, Amboise and Azay-le-Rideau. Numerous fascinating monuments and museums are just waiting to be explored.
